Multicultural Education

The civil rights movement of the 1960’s, brought to the surface the need for an educational system that educated all students. To address this need, the multicultural education movement arose to provide social justice, democracy and equity of the diverse groups by incorporating cultural differences into curriculum.  Each instructor will probably have his/ her own definition dependent upon his/ her views of how to integrate and use it in the curriculum.

It is appropriate for instructors to teach students to take pride in their own culture, but students must also be taught to respect the culture of other students.
