Language
One of the key components of verbal communication patterns is language.
Language is
- a reflection of culture and the tool used by the culture to communicate with one another;
- a focal point for cultural identity;
- a socializing agent that assists an individual in learning acceptable cultural patterns;
- usually learned at home and based upon culture;
- a carrier of cultural assumptions within their expressions;
- different amongst cultures in how they deal with silence and nonverbal expression;
- an influence on most of our social relationships;
- and the only thing that may be diverse within a culture.
