Language


One of the key components of verbal communication patterns is language. Language is
  • a reflection of culture and the tool used by the culture to communicate with one another;
  • a focal point for cultural identity;
  • a socializing agent that assists an individual in learning acceptable cultural patterns;
  • usually learned at home and based upon culture;
  • a carrier of cultural assumptions within their expressions;
  • different amongst cultures in how they deal with silence and nonverbal expression;
  • an influence on most of our social relationships;
  • and the only thing that may be diverse within a culture.
